In 2020, the Naughty Wood Company Ltd. was founded by Ryan Walsh in Calgary, Alberta. The name is inspired by the 14th-century interpretation of "naughty," which means "to have nothing." Ryan has mastered the art of transforming spaces and aims to enhance the lives and homes of others, turning "nothing" into "something".

About Us
Ryan's journey in cabinet-making began during high school in his Industrial Arts class. While staying with a cousin, he took the initiative to sort and organize the wood piles and clean the shop at a small cabinet shop run by his cousin's boss, who was away at the time. Impressed with Ryan's efforts, the boss offered him a full-time position, which opened the door to what would become his hobby and passion.
In these early years, Ryan worked in the assembly department as an installer helper. He was able to gained employment in several high-end cabinet shops, each providing unique experiences with a variety of designs and concepts. This exposure to contemporary, traditional, and transitional styles eventually led him to focus on finishing carpentry for a few years, which grew his love for exotic woods like Zebrawood, Ebony, Purple Heart, Sapele, etc.
With his growing knowledge and skills, Ryan was given the opportunity to help empower less fortunate individuals by teaching them basic cabinet-making skills, igniting their passion for the craft. Eventually, he transitioned to work in large wood manufacturing companies, where he became a cabinet sprayer.
These roles allowed Ryan to expand his understanding of sales
and the labour involved in the essential fundamentals of cabinet making and woodworking, which led him to start the Naughty Wood Company Ltd.
